The Athletic: No Offers Yet for Darwin Nunez from Saudi Arabia

The Athletic has reported that Liverpool has not received any official offers for their forward Darwin Nunez, despite earlier claims that Saudi club Al Hilal had made a bid to sign him.

Previously, Anfield Watch suggested that Liverpool had turned down a verbal offer from Al Hilal worth a significant amount. However, The Athletic clarified that Liverpool has not engaged in any discussions or received formal offers regarding Nunez, despite speculation linking the Uruguayan striker to Saudi Pro League clubs like Al Hilal and Al Nassr.

Nunez’s Current Situation at Liverpool

Nunez joined Liverpool from Benfica in the summer of 2022 for a fee of £64 million. Since then, he has scored 37 goals in 122 appearances for the club. However, this season has been underwhelming for the Uruguayan, with just four goals and four assists in 26 matches across all competitions.

Speculated Offer from Al Hilal

Anfield Watch reported that Al Hilal had made a verbal offer worth £70 million (€83 million) for Nunez, but Liverpool rejected it. The report further stated that Liverpool is unwilling to sell the striker for less than £85 million (€100 million). However, the club might consider a deal if the offer reaches £75 million (€89 million).

Al Hilal’s Interest

Reports suggest that Al Hilal’s Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus is keen on signing Nunez, especially with the team set to miss their Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic due to injury. Mitrovic suffered a hamstring injury during a match against Al Ittihad in the Saudi King’s Cup quarter-finals and is expected to be sidelined for three weeks.

Conclusion

While rumors of Nunez’s potential move to Saudi Arabia continue to circulate, The Athletic insists that no formal offers have been made to Liverpool yet. The Reds appear reluctant to part ways with the striker unless their valuation is met.
